Yngve is professor in Computer Science, esp. Human-Computer Interaction, at NADA (Department for Numerical Analysis and Computer Science), KTH.

He is director of the competence centre CID, Centre for user-oriented IT Design, with roots in IPLab, the Interaction and Presentation laboratory, at NADA, KTH.

 Yngve's research interests are among others

• design methodology for cooperation of different competences, notably users, in computer support development
• programming techniques, esp. object-oriented, for development of of user interfaces
• computer support for cooperation

Yngve is also / specifically involved in

• the HMI research school at KTH as supervisdor and member of executive board
• ITQ and UsersAward , a project on quality of IT support on work places, including a yearly award to the best IT support, nominated by end users, leader together with Torbjörn Lind, Swedish Confederation of Trade Unions
• eRENA, Electronic Arenas for Culture, Art, Performance and Entertainment, 1997-2000, EU ESPRIT Long-Term Research project, 8 partners coordinated by KTH (Yngve)
• KidStory, Collaborative Storytelling for Children -  With Children, 1998-2001, project in EU ESPRIT LTR initiative Experimental School Environments
• InterLiving, Designing Interactive, Intergenerational Interfaces for Living Together, 2001-2003, EU IST project with KTH (Yngve) as coordinator of 3 partners
• initiator and member of the board of the KTH engagement as central node, KTHNOC, in the university computer networks
• ICE, Interactive Collaborative Environments laboratory, at SICS, as scientific advisor
• Ship to Bosnia, as provider of computer support for education in Lipnica, Tuzla, Bosnia
