Video Browsing, Exploration and Structuring


VIBES was a 3.5 year long term research project on object-level understanding of film and television video. It covered both correspondence / indexing (roughly at the level of MPEG-7) and reconstruction / resynthesis (roughly at the level of MPEG-4).

VIBES started on the 1st of December 2000 and finished on the 30th of April 2004. It was funded by the European Community under the Information Society Technologies (IST) FET Open Programme of the Fifth Framework. There were 6 partners who provided bewteen them 30 person years of research. The total budget was 2.3 MEu with 1.7 MEu of European Union support.
