Sam's Telecom Page

Welcome to my telecom page!

I have always been very interested in communication. My first memory of thinking about telecom was when I at the age of eight got lost in a major department store. I remember thinking ``If only I could call mum and tell her where I am. What if I could have a telephone in my pocket? Wonder how that would be made to work? Just a technicality...''.

Science fiction at the time, NMT450 had not even begun back then, now a reality for about 2 1/2 million Swedes (total 8.8).

In the 1880's Stockholm had the highest density of telephones per capita in the world. One hundred years later history repeats itself -- in the air. Stockholm has been the cellphone capital of the world for nearly ten years now.

We now have three analogue, three GSM and soon, four DCS networks.
