Computers

I've always felt affection for the old time Unix hacker community. (Perhaps it started when I played the original Adventure game on IBM 3270 terminals at IBM HQ while waiting for my mother to finish work).  One source of inspiration for me is the Jargon file which describes much of how true hackers think. The one and only true editor is, of course, Emacs.

Computers should be primarily for fun, so I play a lot of computer games. The classics are Nethack (my first apotheosis was as a Tourist!) and, during undergraduate studies, I played a lot of MUD (Multi User Dungeon, an early version of multi-user games over the internet). Nowadays, I try to get time for the real-time strategy games like Starcraft and Age of Empires.

Boardgames

However, I actually mostly play games offline. I like strategic and diplomatic boardgames such as Advanced Squad Leader, Settlers of Cataan, and the 18xx series. I also play a mean game of Scrabble.

Hiking

Although I'm really not into any kind of sports, I do enjoy hiking in the Swedish mountains.

Some photos from when I climbed Kaskasatjåkka (2076 m) in 1997:

Philosophy

Ah, philosophy... I am always up for a good philosophical debate. Here are some of my current philosophical standpoints (to get you in the mood for a debate):

Onthology: onthological materialism, atheist

Epistemology: cohorentist (as per Willard v. O. Quine), evolutionary epistomology

Meta-ethics: subjective, non-universal, indexical internalist

Ethics: teleological (not teological), inspired by neodarwinism

Politics: extreme free market economy, teleological laws, pro-science, pro-animal experiments

Some other philosophic favorites: David Hume, Tristan Tempest, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Bertrand Russel, Friedrich Nietzsche

Cute

To my great amazement, I am actually beginning to like children; Here I am with Nimrod, who is the son to a good friend of mine.
