Specific information

This page has information about Dutch and international inline skating magazines, Dutch streethockey clubs, inline skating lessons, and finally some miscellaneous information.

The NIB is the Nederlandse Inline Bond. Information about them could be obtained on-line, but this link has stopped working.

Magazines

As far as I know, there's only one Dutch skating magazine:'In-Line Magazine Nederland', which has has been published at least twice, probably three times. It says that other issues will cost f6,75, and will appear as soon as possible. Their address is: In-Line Magazine Nederland, Postbus 8871, 1006 JB Amsterdam, 020-6113691. They ask for information, but are also open for questions about skating. Their first edition, the only one I've read, was quite fun to read, and had some interesting information.

Update: There's two more issues out. Alain van Oorsouw (A.vanOorsouw@cthlo.ft.hse.nl) says they're quite interesting, with more attention to street hockey, including some results from a recreative tournament that he competed in. He says they're getting more and more publicity, so he suspects they'll come out more often now.

970730: There is another Dutch inline skating magazine: In-Line Skate Magazine, sold at most stores. They have a web site, too.

An American inline skating mag called 'The INLINE Skate Magazine' is sold in the American Book Centre in the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam. Information about other places is welcome.

On the web, you can find a site of In-Line Skater. In-Line Skater is a color glossy magazine dedicated to the sport of inline skating. It is published 6 times a year, with product evaluations and tips in every issue. You can even subscribe by email.

jnewborn@ecst.csuchico.edu writes: There is a magazine here in the US called Inline Magazine, and they can be contacted at: Inline Magazine, P.O. BOX 527, Mount Morris, Il, 61054-7657 USA.

Inline skating lessons

In Prinsenbeek, near Breda, skate-lessons are given at the Fit & Fun Sporting Club, Valdijk 12a, 4841 AG Prinsenbeek, 076-5411730. The lessons include stopping-techniques, safety, basic skills and more. Fitness-skating and private lessons available too. 19/08/1997: This place has, in may of this year, and as the first inline skating training center in the Netherlands, aquired IISA level 1 certification in the form of their instructor Dennis Snip.

In Amsterdam, RS Survivors Amsterdam gives inline skating lessons at Sporthal Oostenburg, Oostenburgergracht en Outdoor Rink Survivors Amsterdam, Boelenbaan, Buitenveldert. Information: RS Survivors Amsterdam, 020-6113701.

Also in Amsterdam, in the Vondelpark, near the Amstelveenseweg, there is a company called Rent-a-Skate (tel: 020-6622711). They rent out skates (as you probably guessed from the name), they have Roces skates and wristguards available for rent. And they also give skating lessons.

In Eindhoven, Rollerskate Center Eindhoven gives inline skating lessons at Herentalsweg 2, 5628 RD Eindhoven, 040-2422627.

Also, Peter Foliant (peter@win.tue.nl) writes: The indoor inline-skate lessons atDukino's Skate School, Topaasring 43, 5629 GD Eindhoven, 040-2481790. are held at three different days of the week. Monday and Tuesday evenings at 't Karregat, Urkhovenseweg, Eindhoven and Saturday mornings at Kupers B.V., Noordkade 49, Weert. There are beginners and advanced classes for the ages of 8-14 and 15+. At Thursday evenings the school organizes rollerskate lessons in Eindhoven. In the first few lessons the following, among other things, is learnt:
* Inline basics: posture, stepovers, backwards, scissoring, slaloming, turning from forward to backward (with a stepping technique or a jump), balance exercices, etc.
* Dancing techniques.
* When there is time, some roller hockey is played.

Miscellaneous information

20/10/1997: Intructor training courses, IISA level 1 ICP (Instructor Certification Program), are given by The Fitskate Company and Rollerblade Nederland. More information can be obtained from Sidney Cosman: 020-6140197 or  Dennis Snip: 076-5411730. Their email address is fitskate@wxs.nl.

970730: In Den Bosch, there is an in-line skating club for grown-ups, called Roll Duke. Their address is Koningshoeven 1, 5235 BW 's-Hertogenbosch. They also have email.

970730: On the same site as In-Line Skating Magazine, there's a page about Skate Promotions Nederland. They organize various kinds of promotional skating activities in the Netherlands (surprisingly).

In Amsterdam, there's 'Stichting Bladeschool'. Their correspondence address is Stichting Bladeschool, Kanaalstraat 46 HS, 1054 XJ Amsterdam, informational phone number: 020-6910888.

Also in Amsterdam, there is US (Universitaire Sportvereniging), who have some speedskating activities. A web page can be found here.

After many questions, I have finally found plans for ramps and rails, from Toxboe skate park, Denmark.  21/10/97: Some more ramp related links: Rail building tips, Heckler magazine ramp plans, IASC skate ramp prints, NISS (empty now but promised), Ramp building FAQ.

Again, this is only a very meagre bit of information right now. I know that, but I hope it will grow. You can actively contribute to that growth by sending me information on skating in the Netherlands.
