General information

One great place to get general information on inline skating is the rec.sport.skating.inline newsgroup. They also have a FAQ file, which is archived at, among others, the rtfm.mit.edu ftp site. There is also a WWW site which carries this FAQ, complete with a couple of tutorials on advanced techniques. You should really check it out.

You could also, if you have access to it, check out the irc channel #inline. The 'bot on it has some nifty info on skating, and is maintained by F242. There's almost always some people on who can answer a question you might have.

People sometimes ask me to add a link to my pages, pointing to their pages of skating info. I don't think these pages are the right place to do these things. These pages are specifically about skating in the Netherlands, so I only keep a couple of links to other pages with very general information, like the FAQ. The place to collect links to skating pages is this page in Yahoo.  21/10/1997: You can also look at The All In-Line Skating Web Site for more links.

08/01/1998: Well, okay, one more link: Another website about inline skating in the Netherlands! Check out Sportweb, they also have a section about inline skating, but everything is in Dutch.

23/02/1998: I bow to the pressure; more links. iNLine and Amsterdam Skate City. More links about Amsterdam from Yuri.

On maintenance: I recently cleaned my bearings, and relubricated them with Pronatur Teflon Oil (from Rodolfo's). This works great! There's really a lot less friction now, from dirt and stuff. Rodolfo's also has a small flyer that tells you how to do this.

On wheels: I am beginning to need new wheels (a try at roller hockey and some practice at street style really killed my 78A wheels), and I really wonder what wheels I should buy. In InLine Magazine Nederland, I found this, a list with advice on which wheels to buy for which kind of skating.

Again, this is only a very meagre bit of information right now. I know that, but I hope it will grow. You can actively contribute to that growth by sending me information on skating in the Netherlands.
