September 14, 1998
It's hard to leave California in September when the
sky is blue and the air is warm.
We felt good, however, leaving the house in the hands of our renters who seem very nice and very responsible.
Leo came to pick us up in his shiny black BMW.
In the Newark airport we waited for our SAS flight and I snapped this
picture of a large group of Hasidic Jews who were all facing the same direction
while praying and swaying.
We arrived tired but in one piece and our host Henrik was there waiting for us. He drove us to our apartment which is located in a lovely residential neighborhood on an island just east of downtown Stockholm. The neighborhood is full of gracious houses on large lots. There is still lots of greenery around but some of the trees are starting to change color.
Our apartment is the entire second floor of this house:

The owners are lovely folks who live downstairs. The apartment is very large and is furnished with antiques.
The kitchen is pretty well equipped with a brand new fridge.

There is a dining area in the kitchen.
There is a large dining room and a large living room.
This is a view from the living room into the dining room.
The walls are covered with paintings.

This is a shot of the dining room.
Here are some of the beautiful antiques in the dining room:

The living room has lovely views out two big windows.

Finally, we have a nice deck with a lovely view of one of the neighboring houses.

It is about a five minute walk from our place to the shopping district. We went this afternoon to buy groceries and found the stores to be very well outfitted with just about anything you would want from home.
