Idag använder fler och fler människor mobiltelefoner och datorer för att kommunicera med varandra. Med dessa nya media kan människor och företag sända och utbyta information på ett helt nytt sätt. Många mjukvaruföretag och mobiltelefontillverkare har uppmärksammat detta växande intresse för de nya informationskanalerna och därför skapat produkter och tjänster för att möta användarens behov.
Denna rapport undersöker vilka problem och svårigheter som uppkommer vid utvecklandet av ett system för informationssändning. Speciellt undersöks och utreds huruvida Erlang Systems Open Telecom Platform (Erlang/OTP) är lämplig utvecklingsplattform för ett sådant system. Dessutom görs en utredning av vilka sändnings- och mottagarenheter som skulle kunna användas för att sända samt motta information. Slutligen ges ett exempel på en design av Mobile Messaging System/Erlang (MMS/E), ett system för att sända information tänkt att utvecklas av Brainpool AB.
Today, more and more people are using cellular phones and computers to communicate with each other. With these new media, people and companies can send and exchange information in a whole new way. Many software companies and cellular phone manufacturers have noticed this increasing interest for these new information channels and therefor developed several products and services to meet the demands from the endusers.
This thesis examines the problems and difficulties that arise when developing systems for sending information. Particularly, Erlang Systems Open Telecom Platform (Erlang/OTP) is examined and analysed to decide if it is suitable for that kind of system. Furthermore, an investigation of which sending- and receiving units that could be used for sending and receiving information is done. Finally, an example is given of the design of Mobile Messaging System/Erlang (MMS/E), a system for sending information, intend to be developed by Brainpool AB.
