  17. Overall comments on the course:

    Good lectures, excellent use of the whiteboard.

    What perhaps was lacking was a common theme
    connecting the different topics covered in the
    course; other than their being mathematically
    interesting - that cannot/should not be the reason
    for studying distributed computing, without the
    reality behind the setting, the topic would not
    have any attraction at all to me.

    It helped me understand the way real computer
    systems work in a pleasurable way.


  18. Do you have any suggestions to improve the course?

    Personally I prefer having a textbook to fall
    back on. Lecture notes are late, incomplete and
    written by students who, naturally, lack a
    bird's-eye view of the material.

    Some of the homework problems were vaguely stated,
    perhaps on purpose, which felt somewhat frustrating
    at time.
