SF3566 Numerical Methods for ODEs and DAEs, 7.5 ECTS

General description

This course for PhD students in numerical analysis treats theory and methods for initial value problems in ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and differential-algebraic equations (DAEs). The course is a collaboration between the Department of Numerical Analysis at KTH and the Division of Scientific Computing at Uppsala University.

Aim

The course will give the students an introduction to the construction principles, theory, and implementation issues of modern methods for ODEs and DAEs so that they will be able to understand, use, and develop efficient algorithms for the above mentioned problem class.

Classes

Lectures: 24h There will be 6h of lectures in two days both at KTH and Uppsala University

Course requirements

Four homework assignments and a project.
