TERESA WENNBERG

WELCOME TO MY BRAIN

Teresa Wennberg is a painter and a media artist.
Beside her painting career, she started making video in Paris in 1978 at the Georges Pompidou Center
and went on from there to explore the possibilities with computers. Her multidisciplinary background: law, economics,
languages, painting, sound theory, video, photography, computer graphics - makes her a rare cat in the world of art, computer science and media technology.
She has received numerous grants and awards and has participated in exhibitions at among others:
Biennale de Paris; Ars Electronica, Linz; ELECTRA Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris; Fondation Gulbenkian
Lisbon; Liljevalchs Konsthall, Stockholm; Kulturhuset, Stockholm; ICC, Tokyo and the VR-Cube at KTH, Stockholm.
Her artistic work is engaged in concepts such as time, language, memory and perception, trying to make the world
of digital media more accessible through poetic and imaginative installations.
In 1997, she was invited to work with Virtual Reality at the Center for Parallel Computers at the Royal Institute
of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, where she created three VR-pieces. The fourth one was constructed at the Institut
for Medieteknologi og Ingenjorsvidenskab of Aalborg University, Denmark.
She is currently working on a series of photographs, based on her digital works and preparing a new
installation:"The song of Mnemosyne".
She is also the founder and artistic director of the Artist Residency in Arles sur Tech.
